Newspapers Change into Nichepapers

historic_headlines-755544.
Here is a list of national newspapers which have cutback on production of their papers. I think you will find this interesting and if you pay attention to a trend you will see that a niche paper future is in some ways inevitable.

Where do newspapers go from here?
What’s next?

1) Get specialized
2) Go niche!

Let’s face it Google News Rocks and from here on out if you want news you should go online to get it. News will always be online and it should always be free. YES FREE.. because citizen journalism is a RESPONSIBLITY NOT A RIGHT! Who’s news is it anyway? Why should you pay for something that belongs to the public domain?

What about Newspapers?

It’s high time that they start to figure out how to achieve a sustainable level of grass-roots hyperlocal coverage. This media needs to be both relevant and engaging to the local community. It also has to have a shelf life of more than one day. Another quality which you rarely here about is that it needs to support, build and connect the community.. not exploit it!

We live here… in the community.. so take care of it!

Some of the best hyperlocal media which falls into this description are interviews, reviews, community profiles. On the other hand news which is dynamic and time sensitive needs to go online!

Don’t waste paper to give us a weather update. Put it on your hyper local website home page.
